Cantemus Drive-in Driveway Choir Rehearsal to Be Held at Topsfield Fairgrounds
(March 5, 2021) —Cantemus is pleased to announce its participation in the Driveway Choir Project, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 6PM-7:15PM at the Topsfield Fairgrounds – the first chance for chorus members to sing together in over a year – safely in their cars!
This session will be made possible by the Driveway Choir project, volunteers who are enabling choirs to sing together safely during the pandemic. Kathryn and Bryce Denney, the masterminds behind Driveway Choir, have assembled the microphones, sound board, and mini FM broadcast station that allow choirs to sing, each person in their own car, while hearing the whole ensemble over their car radios – live, with no latency. To complement the audio recording of the rehearsal, Boxford Cable Access Television Corporation (BCATv) will videotape the event including from the vantage of a drone.
Artistic Director Jane Ring Frank said, “We are looking forward to the joy of coming together again to rehearse – even as we comply with public health safety guidelines.” She continued, “Choirs all over the world have sorely missed singing together during the pandemic. We are so grateful to the Denneys for the wonderful gift of their Driveway Choir and this opportunity to again make music together live.”
While we are limited to 32 microphones, and to the number of audience members who can safely attend, if you would like to come and “tune in Cantemus on your FM dial,” please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by March 19. We will respond to your request with entrance and parking details.
