A Musical Menagerie


The repertoire in December’s concert, “A Musical Menagerie,” ranges from Renaissance composer Josquin des Prez to Felix Mendelssohn to contemporary composers including Joan Szymko, Abbie Betines and Eric Whitacre. The program reveals the beauty, resilience and humor to be found within the animal kingdom.

I Hear America Singing


In May, “I Hear America Singing” focuses on choral works by American composers based on words by America poets, including Walt Whitman, Robert Frost and Carl Sandburg. The repertoire touches on American landscape, dreams, protests and poetry, and concludes with Aaron Copland’s uplifting The Promise of Living. Cantemus will be joined by two guests, a guitarist and an oboist.
