Cantemus Announces Solo Vocal Competition for High School Singers
(Sept. 6, 2022) — Cantemus Chamber Chorus, the premier choral ensemble of Boston’s North Shore, is proud to announce a solo vocal competition for high school singers. The competition is open to students in grades 9-12 from public, private and home high schools in MMEA Northeastern District (map). Entry is by electronic submission, and all entrants will receive written feedback from a panel of adjudicators. The winning competitor will receive a $150 honorarium and will be a featured soloist on Cantemus’ winter concert series on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, 2022.
Students will choose a solo art song or aria appropriate to Cantemus’ seasonal winter concert theme (peace, winter, Christmas, Chanukah, etc.), and will submit a video recording with live or pre-recorded piano accompaniment. Singers should fill out the information form and upload a clear PDF or photo scan of their sheet music.
Entries must be uploaded by midnight on Saturday, October 21.
All submitted videos will be deleted at the conclusion of the competition.
